How Do I Add Words To My AAC Talker?

Modified on Thu, 29 Aug, 2024 at 2:42 PM

Our AAC/Talker app comes with a pre-programmed set of words! You’ll notice that not every word we have available is on Goally from the start. Some words need to be "unlocked" through the Parent App.

We have a dictionary of thousands of words and variations for you to choose from!

To Add More Words from Goally's Dictionary...
1. Open the Parent App
2. Tap "Apps" (at the bottom)

3. Tap "Gadgets" > "AAC Talker" > Search Goally Dictionary

4. In the Search bar, type in your word (ex: happy) and tap the word
5. Toggle on "[Child's name] Dictionary"
6. You should now be able to find it on your child's Talker!

How to Add Custom Folders:
You can add custom words to any of the folders found within the Talker, or even within your own NEW folder, as well! Many families will create a folder called “[Child’s Name]’s Words” for things their child loves.

How To Add New, Custom Words:

1. Open the Parent App
2. Tap "Apps" > "Gadgets" > "AAC Talker" > Search Goally Dictionary

3. Type the word you want to add. If it's already in Goally, it will appear! If not...
4. Tap "Invent Something New" > choose either Word or Phrase
5. Type the word [ex: Goally] > tap Create
6. Choose a folder (it will give you options) and part of speech
7. Add a picture
8. Tap "Save"

That's it! Make sure to check out the other Talker settings as well like Grid Controls, Voice Selection, Sound Controls, Speech Bar, and background selection! Do this from the Settings Gear on the Parent App. Just scroll down to Talker and explore.
